Over the past few years, reports
of defective metal hip implants and recalls of hip implants have been
plentiful. Stryker corrosion lawyers have been diligently following the news,
researching the recalled hip implants and working hard to ensure victims of
defective hip devices get the help they need. The Stryker Rejuvenate and ABGIIhip implants were recalled in July, 2012. This recall followed an urgent field
safety notification, sent to doctors and hospitals in April, prior to the
recall. Stryker stated the recall issues as: the risk of excessive fretting and
corrosion, leading to metal ion debris entering the body and the potential for
total hip failure.
Stryker corrosion attorneys
have seen many, many victims of these recalled hip implants. The metal ions can
burrow into surrounding tissues, causing inflammation, infection and chronic
pain or can enter the bloodstream, causing metal toxicity.
